Ukrainian inventors have developed Perun — a version of Lancet, the Russian kamikaze drone. In an interview streamed on Pressing, a YouTube channel, Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov assured that the product had already been rolled out by some manufacturers.
‘We are currently in the process of scaling up, and we have a clear vision of when and how many drones we will have. Today, Lancets are quite an effective weapon. We analyse the statistics of their use by the Russian Federation. That’s why we need to develop electronic warfare facilities to protect every piece of equipment on the frontline from drones,’ stressed Mr Fedorov.
According to him, the war is currently shifting into a new frame of reference, which is the war of technologies.
Mr Fedorov noted that hundreds of Lancets are produced in the Russian Federation on a monthly basis, representing a major threat that needs to be addressed.
The channel’s host said that Ukraine was testing its own Lancet, called Perun, which had been unveiled at a recent event.
The Lancet is a Russian loitering munition designed to destroy ground equipment and other targets at the frontline and behind enemy lines. These drones are capable of hovering in the air for a long time to track a target, and then rapidly attacking it.
